Dear fellow maharastrians,
Pls. scan through this blog and checkout for yourselves what these so called vanguards of 'marathi manoos' are doing under the name of our beloved community. Do we subscribe to this ideology?? I definitely don't. I am confident that most you'll will be with me on this.
Our community has always gifted India with immensly talented artists and intellectuals. Our literature is very much what classics are made of. Our humaneness is reflected in the movies we produce e.g. Swash etc. We have contributed to the idea of India by spreading the fragrance of our lovely culture. We have earned respect for ourselves because as a community we've always respected every other community.
So now, how can we allow some twisted politicians to walk all over us and demand things for us or fight for issues which are absolutely not related to us? Who are they to divide us from the rest of Indians and put us into a sect called Marathi Manoos?? We are all Indians and our cultures amalgamated is what makes India.

I second your opinion. And as you rightly pointed out I am sure many others do too. I only wish that your post along with the URLs that contextualize it could reach out to more voters!
Absolutely true...i even think why r we wasting our time commenting on this guy...who just runs for cheap publicity.... we are just giving him more number of hits over internet across his name be it a positive comment or a negative one he is just getting publicity...
It’s very clear in the minds of people who to vote for.... it’s just that we all should go and vote..People like this will automatically disappear from the limelight once they know of the people’s verdict.
hey u r pretty
Completely agreed. These self appointed guardians of culture and regional identity deserves to be condemned in the strongest of terms. Their acts are nothing but Vote Bank Politics. The civil society should be more vocal against these parochialism.
I completely agree with the blog post. On a cynical note, contrary to what Rajiv says here, such skunks may not get weeded out of the system as people like ourselves do not exercise our franchise. These dastardly outfits have political backing which makes matters worse.
Try to understand the issues before forming an opinion.
Raj's methods may not be right but his issues are correct.
I have seen north indians humiliating helpless marathi women, kids and senior citizens in mumbai and pune. North indians give a damn abt marathi people..all they want is your jobs and your land. But if you are ok to switch to hindi and let go of marathi language and live like a bihari in maharashtra and celebrate chat pooja..it's like kicking our ur own mother in favor of sm1 else's mother.
If u can't be loyal to ur mother, nothign can be expecte out of u.
Dear Neha,
Thanks for leaving your comments.First, I am glad atleast you agree that his methods are not right. That's a good beginning. India is a democratic country and everyone is entitled to their opinion. If a politician's cause is genuine he could also follow Mahatma Gandhi's footsteps instead of resorting to voilence...I'm sure if they are genuine he will surely get the support that he seeks. Coming to the question of north Indians taking away our jobs. If anybody feels this way and it maybe true. I want to ask why any party cannot strengthen the community they stand for by providing better educational facilities. Why can't we be constructive? I do not think going on a violent rampage has anything to do with loyalty.Loyalty can be proven in several other ways. Lets be united to build this loyalty. I am with you and the rest of maharasthra to strengthen the marathi culture and make everyone be compelled to accept that we are truly class apart. But lets do this in peace, harmony and by being constructive...
Personally I believe the issues here are all intertwined and complex, I don’t even wish to delve in to them. Yes, Raj Thackeray’s means are not justifiable.
But this is the state of politics in our country. And it will not change unless we do something. What can we do? My understanding is that Raj is not after your vote, neither the author of this blog nor all the people that have commented. Furthermore I believe he will get the votes of the people he’s after, whatever his means. These are the people we need to reach out to. Yes, Obama used the electronic media heavily in his campaign, but just think about it…who are the people you are reaching out to through your blogs and your comments? The poor uneducated people in the slums? They are simply unaware of Raj’s political agenda and follow him, because he promises them a secure job, and I would really not be surprised if he comes to power sooner than we would like. I don’t believe there is a short term solution to this deep rooted problem.
To make my point, IBM's current television ad campaign spouts the mantra "Stop Talking. Start Doing.”
As a longer term solution, I believe education is the key to all the issues that this country as a whole is facing. I keep aside a part of my salary and sponsor an under privileged child’s education every year. What are you waiting for? If each one of us educated just one child, just imagine, what we can build in our own lifetime!!
Stop spreading hate, educate!
Hi Abhijit, Thanks for leaving your comments.
thats a nice reaction..."heart of the matter"
"Don't you dare ask me for your vote"
I hope that you vote for someone who stands for what you believe in. As a citizen in this game of democracy, you have a chance once every 5 years to exercise your opinion. Don't waste the opportunity.

I have lived the better part of my life in the southern states. When you speak of communal living please understand that only the Maharashtrian community welcomes all.
Although Raj's methods may seem excessive, it would be worth your while to check out the southern part of India and how we are treated there. This is question of what is more important.. the means or the end...
i agree wid u sachin...we maharashtrians have a high tolerance level..its y everyone else has taken advantage of us...the means r not right...i agree..but sme1's goota raise their voice ...
also...this girls good with the language..but she got no hang of the politics man...
Hey Sachin, I empathise with your experiences, but does that justify using force to get respect? I belive in Mahatma's words that an eye for an eye will make the whole world blind...
I agree. Violence cannot be justified, unless used in self defence.
Railways is one of the worlds largest and prestigious employer….and the jobs in Maharashtra were handed over on a platter to non maharashtrians …for heavens sake …the forms weren’t even printed in marathi..!!
Well, im outraged too, but pelting stones at railway carriages, busses and other communities is definitely not the solution and cannot be justified. But then is America’s attack on Iraq justifiable? America claim that they are only defending their people….so then why single Raj out….he is fighting for the right of my people…its not like I have sold my soul to any politician…but he’s fighting for a cause…
Personally…I hate all the fighting and violence too…
But I believe its not just Raj ..but infact the whole human race needs to learn that
“Violence is the last resort of the incompetent” – Isaac Asimov
Theres this story of a very violent snake who used to bite anyone and everyone who came near his home. A saint same along and advised the snake against the behavior. The snake changed for good( I am now assuming the snake decided that "eye for an eye" kinda thing wasn't the solution).
After a while when the saint passed the snake again, he was shocked to see the snake in a pitiable state - all beaten up and almost dead. The snake said that he was trying to follow the saints advise and everyone around him took advantage of it.
The saint said - "I asked you not to bite; Does not mean you cannot hiss".
Although this may see a bit off the track, I would like to think that Raj and his cronies are only hissing and doing whats necessary.
And on a very sincere note I would suggest you vote for him! ;)
